The church: The church in the slums of Midgar is a very important place to the plot. Memories of Aeris can be remembered there. The church also has a role in the appearance of the strange creatures that we have seen Red XIII and Cid fighting in the streets of Midgar. And thirdly, the church has a link to the silver haired trio; Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo.
Reno: He will use some new techniques with his stun gun. When used with both hands, it is said to have more of a shock function.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will be released at the end of this year in Japan for DVD and PSP. No definite release dates have been set yet.
Before Crisis to be released in the west after all?
According to AdventChildren.net, Square Enix has applied for two trademarks in the US: Before Crisis and Dawn of Souls. As everyone probably already knows, Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis is Square Enix’s next mobile instalment, but what is Dawn of Souls? The fact that they were applied at the same time doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but the only project that we know Square is working on, but which yet doesn’t have a confirmed name, is the third Final Fantasy VII spin-off game featuring Vincent. But as long as nothing is confirmed, Dawn of Souls could be anything.
The fact that the Square Enix wants to register the trademark Before Crisis in the US would lead us to assume that the game is planned to be released on both sides across the ocean. Why else would Square want to protect their product name in the USA also? Applying for a trademark means that the company is allowed to use the ® symbol along with their trademark. There is also another trademark symbol: ™, which means that the trademark has not been registered, but that the company treats the product name as a trademark (but it doesn’t have the same kind of protection until it is widely recognised). Another company cannot use a registered trademark on their product, but trademarks are generally only registered within one country’s borders (though in EU a company can apply for a EU wide trademark), so Square Enix needs to apply protection for their trademarks in Japan and the US separately, and it will not be a protected trademark elsewhere.
According to Internet sources, the player will be able to choose between a male and female character as the lead. If the male lead is picked, the player will play as a former gang leader who has broken into Shinra Headquarters, but who will join the Turks after Reno apprehends him. If the woman lead is chosen, the player will start as a Shinra military school graduate who ‘does quite well with a handgun’.
The technical requirements for Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis are still listed on the official website (though in Japanese).

"I confidently present the 900i series to be, both in name and reality, 'the ultimate mobile phone.' It has overcome many hurdles, such as the upper limits of data-processing capability, because of our long-term research and development of Wideband CDMA." –Takeshi Natsuno, Managing Director of i-mode Planning Department.
"The vast content services are what make the 900i series models the 'ultimate i-mode terminal.' i-appli can now produce and offer content more attractive than existing services, thanks to its large-capacity of 500kb — twice that of existing services. Specifically, game-appli now offers such industry-leading popular games as Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Biohazard. The potential for business applications is also growing rapidly." –NTT DoCoMo
Because Square Enix is trying to register ‘Before Crisis’ as a trademark in the US, it looks like they’re at least preparing to release it on their ground someday. So far, DoCoMo’s services are available in Belgium, France, Germany, Taiwan, Holland, Spain, Italy and Greece, and Australia will be the next one to join, at the end of this year. So it might be a while until Before Crisis becomes available in the US, if it is Square Enix’s plan to keep the game mobile phone-only application.
This still shouldn’t be taken as a sign of something certain, because often companies register for trademarks, apply for patents, etc. just to get there first and to make sure they’ll have the rights in case they will need them someday. There are often trademarks applied for which never become anything, so until Square Enix reveals their plans on using these trademarks, it doesn’t mean anything more than that the company owns rights for using the names on US ground.
