FFXII - Espers - Exodus, the Judge-Sal
Tula Ascendant
Most ancient of the scions, created in opposition to Halmarut, the Arbiter, and scion of light. Tasked with keeping watch over the world, with the authority to judge the value of all things. As he watched, unseen, unknown, his attachment to the world dwindled and faded until it was as nothing. Fitting that he would desire to make the world, too, as nothing. Yet he fell in the war against the gods, and was thwarted, imprisoned in punishment for his heresy.
Previously seen in: Final Fantasy V as the final boss (ExDeath), and as the Totema for the Viera in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
Location: Mosphoran Highwastem, Empyrean Seat. Accessible after you've opened up the gateway from Salikawood to Phon Coast. The Shrines which previously hadn't been running are now running... to access the Esper, you'll need a Gsyahl Green, so make sure you have one in your possession.
The two shrines to touch:
-South
-Northwest
Now take the upper exit to Rays of Ashen Light, and feed the chocobo some Gysahl Greens. You're set! Ride the chocobo south to Emyprean Way. Because of one of the raised floatweed, you'll be able to access the otherwise unreachable part of Empyrean Way, so continue to ride the chocobo west. Eventually you'll reach some shrubbery, which would've been impassable without the chocobo, but with it, you can ride right through to Skyreach Ridge. Go to the exit to Bubbling Vale (dismounting from the chocobo): touch the Shrine of the West Wind, and hit the weathered rock... you'll be able to return to the teleport crystal and save your game.
Open up the Location Map: are there two floatweeds in the northern area of Skyreach Ridge? you're good to go. If there's only one, you'll need to touch the Northwest Shrine again. Now.... go up to the top. Exodus!!!
Battle info
Status: Reflect, Protect, Shell
Steal: Libra Gem
Attacks: Regular (~1400-1600 plus chance of Stop), Flare (~3500), Unleash (decreases spell action time), Scathe (~3600-4000 range), Reflect, Paling (at hp critical, wears off eventually but slowly)
Stipulation: Characters cannot use items
LP received: 52
LP required to learn: 50
Advice: Since you can't use items, you'll want to adjust your gambits accordingly. Without Chronos Tear, Dispel is your only way to remove Stop. Exodus possesses some crippling non-elemental magick attacks, so Shell might be a good idea, and Bubble is strongly recommended (either the spell, or purchase Bubble Belts from the Muthru Bazaar, assuming you've completed enough mark hunts.) The good news is the action time for his spells are significant, so you can wail on him with physical attacks in the meantime.
Unleash decreases spell wait time, so he's even more furious; and at HP Critical, expect a Paling... and of course, be sure to remove his Reflect status before you use any magic on him. His Paling takes a LONG time to wear off, so either go crazy w/ magic, or pull off a Quickening combo just before he drops to HP Critical, and therefore, Paling status.
